In 2008, Alliant Energy suffered major floods in its utility plant as did the entire city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Alliant Energy controlled several central steam loops that hundreds of small businesses and government organizations depended on. Unfortunately, all existing equipment was ruined from the flood.
Uninterrupted Power
Rather than abandon their customers, the plant immediately sprung into action and got in touch with Wabash after hours. Our 24/7 response team met the steam needs of Cedar Rapids 100% with Wabash’s extensive trailer-mounted boiler inventory. In all, Wabash promptly supplied over 1.5 million pounds of steam per hour with a total of 12 rental boilers. Wabash had the first ones running in a week. When the steam demand continued to increase, 150,000 lb saturated units and 250,000 lb superheated units were shipped to the jobsite for immediate startup, providing uninterrupted power to Alliant’s customers.
